A new home designed for a beachside suburb in Melbourne for Clients who wanted to capture the charm of weatherboard construction with energy efficient principles. The site overlooks a neighbourhood park within walking distance to the beach. Relaxed family living was paramount in this design.

The open plan living area to the rear of the home includes a cleverly designed alfresco area with retractable bi-fold glazed doors, bi-fold windows over the kitchen bench for a perfectly considered pass through come bar area, ceiling fan to the alfresco area and an ongrade transition between the decking and the lawn area of the backyard.

The cabana in the back yard overlooks the new inground pool with covered spa and surround sound, while a synthetic putting green provides the ultimate in lifestyle amenity.

The environmental design response includes excellent solar orientation, deep eaves for sun control, fans for air movement, zoned floor plan to reduce heating and cooling costs, environmentally friendly bamboo flooring, double glazing and very high levels of cavity insulation.
